Kent-based educational music charity, Music for Change, will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year. The charity began in March 1997 and will be running a series of special events to mark the anniversary throughout the year. We are delighted to announce that as part of the celebrations Kefaya, fresh from their BBC Radio 3 “World On 3” session, are playing The Lighthouse in Deal.
Their music has been described as “internationalist music”, “guerrilla jazz”, “contemporary world- fusion” and “global protest music” – however you attempt to describe them, Kefaya are a band that truly escape musical definition. An eclectic group of immigrants, travellers and international artists, Kefaya seek to find the common ground between folk traditions of the world with a cutting-edge sound rooted firmly in the 21st century.
Papylonian Babooshkees are Aidan Shepherd, Phil Holmes and Stewart Hughes. They play a mixture of traditional music and contemporary music from Papylonia, a little known country which borders Brazil, Russia and Uzbekistan.
