This week’s service brings you …
Despite only launching himself as a solo performer in July 2016, Will Whisson has introduced himself as one of the most exciting new talents to emerge from the UK recently thanks to the release of 2 successful EPs and a no-rest-for-the-wicked touring schedule.
Trading in his home, job and possessions for an old camper van and a life on the road, Will began his journey by busking on the streets ofBelgium and has continued to build up his profile with a ferocious tenacity. 150 gigs, 10 countries and 2 EPs later, it’s safe to say he has already covered some distance, gaining support from fans and critics along the way.
His original songs incorporate the rootsy sounds of artists like John Butler and Jack Johnson while his laid-back soft vocal and expressive guitar playing is reminiscent of more contemporary artists like John Mayer and Ben Howard. With a Dylan-esque emphasis in his lyrics, Will’s interesting mixture of influences has helped him carve out songs that are melodic, meaningful and engaging.
